Species: Polar Bear | Location: Churchill Wildlife Management Area, Canada
While in our Polar Rover we came across a solitary polar bear walking on the new, but probably thin, ice near Churchill, Manitoba. The warm, morning sunlight was incredible and it lit the animal very nicely. We all tried to imagine what the polar bear was thinking. We knew it was hungry and anxious to head out for seals on the ice flow but that time was probably a few days away. We only hoped it would have a successful season in the arctic and return in the spring, prepared for the cycle to repeat next year.
