Species: Sloth Bear | Location: Ranthambore National Park, India
On our 7th and final game drive of our visit to Ranthambore, we remarked to our NatHab expedition leader that he'd shown us an awesome menagerie of what Ranthambore had to offer, but he missed two. We hadn't seen a leopard or a sloth bear. He had quick conversation with our guide and drive, and we headed into the park. While we never did see a leopard (leaving us a great reason to return to Ranthambore on another NatHab expedition in the future) they were able to find this fellow. We followed him for almost an hour in 35C heat as he wandered the park, climbed a tree to knock down a bee hire and feast on honey, and ambled to a watering hole where he took a drink. I love the reflection of the trees, and the water dripping off his snout.
