Location: Galapagos, Ecuador
My sister and I took my mom on this trip to the Galapagos for her 75th birthday. My mom didn’t want to miss out on any adventure, but was apprehensive when there was an opportunity to hike 3 miles to the top of a volcano. She had had some breathing challenges and was worried she could keep up with the pace of the mostly younger group. But my mom is determined and never passes on a challenge! She persevered and made it to top! When we got home, we found out she needed open heart surgery (the cause of the breathing challenges). She successfully completed that surgery and is back to hiking! I love this picture of her in the fog on the volcano. It symbolizes the amazing adventure our family took with Nat Hab as well as the successful journey of a strong woman who never gives up and fought to get back to health!
