Species: Black And Yellow Broadbill | Location: Danum Valley, Malaysia
We were crossing one of the aerial walkways in Danum Valley, Borneo, in May 2012, during Nathab's initial exploratory Borneo expedition. We heard a bird calling, which then suddenly flew up onto a moss-covered branch about twenty five feet away. It stared right at us for about ten seconds before flying off. The facial expression, blue bill, black white yellow and pink coloration, and wide-eyed intense stare made this one of our favorite photos from our Borneo experience.

The availability of more time for photography after our children left the nest combined with the arrival of digital photography and the technologic advantages it offered has allowed me to go further with my efforts. Combine that with Nathab travel to exotic places with different wildlife: what an opportunity I have had!Vote for this photo in the Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest People’s Choice Awards!
