Species: Orangutan | Location: Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, Borneo, Malaysia
At the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, this baby orangutan clutches food it just grabbed at a feeding station, a critical step in its journey towards independence. Located on the edge of the Kabili Sepilok Forest Reserve, this renowned facility plays a vital role in orangutan conservation. It aims to rehabilitate orphaned, injured, or displaced orangutans and return them to the wild.
This image captures not only a young ape’s instinct for survival but also the crucial efforts being made to protect one of Borneo’s most endangered species, giving them a chance to thrive in their natural habitat once again.
