Species: Laetiporus Persicinus | Location: Corcovado Wilderness Lodge, Costa Rica
There is so much to see on every hike, and many focus their sights on the canopy. However, mushrooms bloom on the wet forest floor like this giant one which was at least 3 ' in diameter.
It was hugging the ground, attached to roots in a small island of trees surrounded by pavement near the Lodge. It was raining at the time, and the water was puddling in the center of the top cap, turning it brown while the pink edges remained as a lacy trim.
