About The Photographer
John Ellert has been photographing the natural world since age 14 and has been drawn to natural beauty for as long as he can remember. Although he trained as a classical concert pianist and had a 30-year career in libraries, as an adult he returned to photography, studying with Boyd Norton, Nancy Rotenberg, André Gallant, and Freeman Patterson, among others. His award-winning work revolves around understanding rather than merely seeing. Taking great joy in pursuing unique qualities of light and the ever-changing dance between physical matter and the energy of light, he travels extensively while photographing around the globe.
