Species: Taipir | Location: Parque Nacional Corcovado, Costa Rica
This young male taipir was perhaps 20 feet from me. We had hiked through a muddy section of the corcovado coastline. Many people we passed had seen nothing, but our guide Alex asked us all to remain still for just 15 minutes. The bright yellow wild plums on the ground are one of the taipir's favorite foods, so we were counting on that to attract one.
About The Photographer
I recently took my first Nat Hab trip with my wife for her 40th birthday. It was a very special trip in many ways, but I'm so glad we chose Costa Rica as our first destination. There were so many great opportunities for photos.Vote for this photo in the Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest People’s Choice Awards!
