Species: Lion | Location: Southeast Okavango—Santawani Private Concession, Botswana
While at NatHab's Gomoti Camp during a Secluded Botswana Photo Safari in 2023, we often watched various wildlife taking advantage of the watering hole. During the golden hour the morning of our last day, a female first came to a puddle to drink followed by the sub-adult male coming in from the opposite direction to the puddle behind her. The lighting of the low Sun provided a golden hue to the scene while fully highlighting the female and partially highlighting the male. Both lions are partially reflected. The female left as the male continued to drink.
