Species: Leopard | Location: Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Kenya
We took an extension, that NatHab offered, to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy before our Pride of East Africa: Kenya and Tanzania trip. Our guide decided to re-visit an area where a leopard had been spotted the day before by others. As we rounded a corner, there was the female leopard and her two cubs, just walking along the road. We ended up watching all three of them for probably at least an hour. The cubs were adorable. It was wonderful watching them interact with their mom and play/tussle with each other. Plus, we were the only vehicle in the area during that time. Later, others showed up but by that time the leopards had moved towards higher ground, making it harder to watch them or get photos. We so lucked out - but it was just the start of our luck on this fabulous trip.
