Location: Antarctica Archipeligo Continent Side Of Gerlatch Strait, Antarctica
NatHab trip to Antarctica onboard the MY Ocean Tramp. The amazing landscape off the edge of the Antarctica Continent was of such a scale it is hard to put into perspective without knowing the actual size of the vista you are viewing. The peaks of the sawtooth mountains were between 3000 and 4500 feet tall rising straight up from the water's edge, the snowpack on top of the peaks were probably several hundred feet thick. The glaciers That came to the edge of the strait broke off glaciers that were floating all around us (with only the top 10% showing above water)! Where the snows collected further inland on the continent - it is estimated to be more than a mile thick...
