Species: Giant Otter | Location: Northern Pantanal, Port Jofre, Brazil, Brazil
As we toured the rivers of the Northern Pantanal,, Port Jofre, Brazil, we came across a Giant Otter family (the size of each otter almost three times the size of a North American fresh water otter). The family group had caught a large fish. Each otter tore off a piece for him or herself. Each tried to devour his or her portion as quickly as possible so no other member would come by for seconds. We watched them eating and "chirping" at each other until they had finished their meal. We were only about 40 feet away from the otters.
