Echidna In Tasmania

We were on a 2022 Nat Hab Great Ocean Road/Tasmania trip. Despite our guides' best efforts, we'd had no good echidna encounters. Finally, one of the guides, John, came across one in Mt. Field National Park. A victory dance ensued. It was one of our best wildlife experiences. As we moved quietly about, the echidna took no notice of us, even walking between our legs and coming up to sniff our shoes! We stayed with the echidna for many minutes, relishing watching it wandering about and digging for food. Marvelous!
