Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest

Species: Mountain Gorilla | Location: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda

This image of a young gorilla riding on the back of its mother was taken at the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda. My husband, son, and I hiked up to a fairly high elevation, with the help of outstanding porters, to have the rare privilege of sitting with a multigenerational mountain gorilla family. After spending time watching mother and child together, the baby climbed up on its mother's back with her help, and they silently walked away.
