Species: African Elephant | Location: Tarangire National Park, Tanzania, United Republic Of
Our driver/guide was running late and needed to get back to camp before the dinner bell. Alas, there was a roadblock ahead. We'd been in many a bison jam in Yellowstone NP, but this was our first elephant jam. The star of the show was this baby elephant. The adults in the parade of elephants were using their trunks to sling mud on their backs. The poor little guy just couldn't control his trunk yet. He finally took the plunge and plopped down in the mud. Once covered in mud, he struggled to get up. He slipped and fell back in the pool of mud numerous times before finally righting himself and joining the parade into the jungle.
About The Photographer
I've been creating images since age 8 when my dad handed me a camera to take on our class field trip to the zoo. My high school used my images in our yearbooks. I majored in photography and criminal justice at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and Arizona State University. As a crime scene officer, I photographed crime scenes. Photographing wildlife and landscapes has become my number one hobby. I'm currently using the Nikon Z7ii system.Vote for this photo in the Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest People’s Choice Awards!
