Species: Bison | Location: Lamar Valley, United States Of America
Hidden Yellowstone & Grand Teton Safari was my first trip to Yellowstone in June 2021. The names bison and buffalo are often used interchangably and I quickly discovered that is incorrect. Bison are found in North America. Buffalo are native to Africa and Asia.
During our stay we encountered many bison, in the valleys and hills and often on the roads creating enormous traffic jams. These are massive and unpredictable animals. During one of those traffic jams I took this closeup. To me, this bison almost looked deranged.
