Location: Machu Picchu, Peru
Although this is representative of everyone's pictures of Machu Picchu, my approach to composition was unique. To me, it appears the structures are flowing out of the mouth of an ancient oracle. The highest green peak is the nose. The shortest peak in the middle is a tongue. The green peak on the left is the chin. Our guide told us how sacred Machu Picchu was to the ancient people. After hearing the history, I composed the image to capture the energy and spirituality.
About The Photographer
I became interested in nature photography and traveling following a cancer diagnosis in 2013. The diagnosis and subsequent treatment made me realize I never pursued my passion to travel and capture images of scenery that have a profound effect on me. Ten years later, I strive to capture a particular mood or the feeling of amazement at what I'm seeing and experiencing at the moment. I internalize and feel every image I capture. I'm working on improving my technical skills and hope some day to publish images that cause people to want to explore the world and take meaningful actions to preserve nature's fragile beauty.Vote for this photo in the Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest People’s Choice Awards!
