Species: Asian Water Buffalo | Location: Kaziranga National Park, India
I took this on the last day of our tour. My preferred crop is square and tighter - with the male's horns spanning most of the image. At first I thought it was a nice photo, but basically a portrait for my "animal collection." However, as I looked more carefully, I was struck by the slightly irritated, domineering stare of the male and the timid, protected, shy expression of the female. It was clear that the photo captured both them, their relationship to each other, and their relationship to us - the interlopers on their private world.
