Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest

Bengal Tiger, Bandhavgahr National Park, India
Don't Think I Don't See You

Species: Bengal Tiger | Location: Bandhavgahr National Park, India

This huge male was hidden in the shrubs to the point that I had to take a photo and then zoom and inspect it section by section to see him. We were the first vehicle on the scene and obviously, the guide saw him immediately. After a few minutes, he came out of the shrubs and down a slight hill in front of us - which is where I took this photo. He then laid in a partially obscured spot, rolled around, went to a nearby puddle of water for a drink, and returned to stretch and lick himself. We were in front of him for almost a half an hour.

My preferred crop for this photo is square are tighter to frame the tiger's face so that it fills the frame. That said, I do like this crop (submitted to fit the contest rules) insofar as it captures the stepping motion toward the camera - making it intimidating in a different way.
