Species: Homo Sapiens | Location: Sossusvlei, Namib Naukluft National Park, Namibia
This couple was captured as they crossed the summit of one of many giant sand dunes in Namibia's Namibia-Naukluft National park near Sossuvlei. Despite a number of beautiful images of the amazing dunes and the surreal landscapes they form, this one was my favorite. Their slow progress up the edge of the formation as a strenghthening wind lifted the sand into visible streams enabled me to compose and be ready for the moment they reached the top. The couple strides through the blowing surface of the dunes which were themselves formed over millennia by countless grains of sand transported on the wind from hundreds of miles away. They continue their journey as the dunes themselves continue to be perpetually molded and reshaped in the late afternoon light.
