Mokoro Ride On The Okavango

Location: Khwai Private Reserve Or Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana

A large part of what made our safari so amazing was the people we met in Botswana. While in the Okavango, we got to experience a mokoro ride by local people who use this traditional way to travel through the delta waters. It was so still and peaceful, and being at water level gave a new perspective to the delta - how it forms, how it affects the wildlife, and how the people who live there navigate and use it. I love this photo because it really places me in that moment, with the friends I traveled with, the friends I made along the way, and the amazing landscape of the Okavango Delta.

About The Photographer

Cropped jamie at sable alley
My brother and I went on the Family Botswana Safari with some friends and their kids. We had an amazing time and saw so much wildlife - it was really difficult to choose only five photographs! I took all of these photographs with my Samsung Note 10+.
