Species: Lions | Location: Khwai Private Reserve, Botswana
We were driving through the preserve at dusk, and we spotted a group of impala all looking off in the same direction, toward some trees. Our driver headed that way, and we found a pride of about ten lions, all sleeping and lazy. As we pulled up near them, they started to stretch and yawn, and within about 20 minutes they all got up and headed off to hunt. We followed them for a while but eventually it got too dark to safely continue. But that first image of them, dozing in the last sunlight of the day, is what I really remember. And I'm so glad I was able to capture it here!
About The Photographer
My brother and I went on the Family Botswana Safari with some friends and their kids. We had an amazing time and saw so much wildlife - it was really difficult to choose only five photographs! I took all of these photographs with my Samsung Note 10+.Vote for this photo in the Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest People’s Choice Awards!
