Species: Lion | Location: Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, Botswana
We were on the Makgadikgadi salt pans on a windy, cloudy morning in June. We were waiting for meerkats to emerge when our driver spotted a lioness far in the distance. So we all jumped into the jeep and drove toward the pride. There were two cubs, two lionesses, and this gorgeous, black-maned lion. We were the first to spot this group, so we were able to stay with them for about 30 minutes before any other vehicles showed up. The lions were calm, just laying around and playing - probably one of the most amazing experiences in my life!
About The Photographer
My brother and I went on the Family Botswana Safari with some friends and their kids. We had an amazing time and saw so much wildlife - it was really difficult to choose only five photographs! I took all of these photographs with my Samsung Note 10+.Vote for this photo in the Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest People’s Choice Awards!
