Location: East Greenland, Greenland
We had an amazing helicopter adventure to Mitivagkat Mountain via helicopter from Kulusuk. This was part of our unique NatHab East Greenland adventure because we never made it to the Base Camp since that week there were back-to-back storms. So NatHab, leaders Marlo and Daniel, and our local NatHab team made our trip truly special and different. Part of this experience was a helicopter ride to Mitivagkat Mountain where we spent about an hour walking around and learning from Daniel. We could see glaciers and the Greenlandic icecap. This particular photo was taken on our return to the tiny airport in Kulusuk. It was the end of the day of our last full day in Greenland, and this was definitely "icing on the cake" to see East Greenland from this vantage point.
About The Photographer
In spite of not making it to the NatHab Base Camp with the yurts during our 2022 East Greenland adventure, we had a super unique trip because of NatHab and our awesome guides Marlo and Daniel and the local NatHab folks. Why not have some fun and get photographed sitting on a small piece of an iceberg in Tasiilaq Harbor in a downpour?! This photo was taken by my husband and fellow traveler, Bob, who has taught me so much about photography. I am learning with each trip, and I only use my phone camera.Vote for this photo in the Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest People’s Choice Awards! You can vote once per day, and each time you vote you’ll be entered for the chance to win a $500 Visa Gift Card or a $500 WWF Donation.
