Species: Homo Sapiens | Location: Alta Floresta, Mata Grosso State, Brazil Rio Teles Pires, Brazil
We had been unable to visit the south Pantanal due to wildfires. NatHab came through and found an alternate resort in the Amazon Basin - Cristalino Lodge. It is on the Cristalino River which feeds into the Rio Teles Pires. The "sundowner" is a much loved pre-dinner happy hour on some trips. This was our last night and our group put our two boats side by side on the Rio Teles Pires to toast the setting sun.
This picture reminds me of the bittersweet feeling at the end of a trip. An amazing trip coming to a close, but new adventures await. And they came as soon as the next morning which was filled with discovery before checking out and on the way to the airport.
About The Photographer
I like to take pictures as a visual diary of our trips. I am influenced by NPS photographer George Grant's comment: Grant told the audience: “You fellows are living in the most beautiful parts of the country. You have pictures almost anywhere you look. If you haven’t already adopted photography as a hobby it is because there must be a screw loose somewhere.” Cited from the NPCA.org website reviewing "Landscapes for the People" by Ren and Helen Davis.Vote for this photo in the Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest People’s Choice Awards! You can vote once per day, and each time you vote you’ll be entered for the chance to win a $500 Visa Gift Card or a $500 WWF Donation.
