Jaguar Resting By River
Species: Jaguar | Location: Pantanal, Porto Jofre Brazil, Rio Cuiabá, Brazil
By Jon Sudman
This was taken on our first boat trip at Porto Jofre in the Pantanal, August 2024. It is the second of 3 jaguars we saw that afternoon. The weather was quite warm and it was just resting in the shade on the river bank.
I like it as a portrait of a beautiful big cat. There is a little bit of house cat in the face but the body is all muscle.
About The Photographer
I like to take pictures as a visual diary of our trips. I am influenced by NPS photographer George Grant's comment: Grant told the audience: “You fellows are living in the most beautiful parts of the country. You have pictures almost anywhere you look. If you haven’t already adopted photography as a hobby it is because there must be a screw loose somewhere.”
