Species: Leopard | Location: Gomoti, Botswana
We spent days looking at trees with horizontal branches to see four feet and a tail hanging down which would indicate a leopard. Then on one of the last days, our guide (ST) noticed a leopard sitting in a clearing. At first we couldn't see her she blended in so well. We watched her for a long time as she alternately hunted and sat. She was after a grazing impala but it never quite close enough. It was so exciting to see her locked onto the impala, slowly stalking, picking up her feet slowly and setting them down carefully, and sometimes quivering to go. She never did take off but we were rooting for her and we all hoped that she caught a meal later that night.
