Location: Arenal, Costa Rica
While not the official bird of Costa Rica, Keel-billed Toucans are pretty iconic there. Our guide spent a great deal of time trying to get us good looks but they were either too far away or hidden in foliage. Just before the end of our trip, I got lucky and one posed for me right off the deck of our lodge.
About The Photographer
I've been a veterinarian for the past 20 years and only occasionally dabbled in landscape photography. During the pandemic, I started photographing hummingbirds at my bird feeders and then ventured out to local parks to photograph the wildlife. At this point, I would have to say my two favorite hobbies are travel and photography, which is how I ended up on Nat Hab trips!Vote for this photo in the Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest People’s Choice Awards! You can vote once per day, and each time you vote you’ll be entered for the chance to win a $500 Visa Gift Card or a $500 WWF Donation.
