Species: Mountain Gorilla | Location: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda
Kabukojo is the dominant silverback in the Rushegura Group that live in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After a long trek guided by experience trackers and local guides, winding our way up and down mountains and through dense forest, we finally located the Rushegura Group. Apparently, another gorilla family had come too close and several times Kabukojo would beat his chest to show his dominance. In this photograph, notice Kabukojo's massive hands.
