Species: Resplendent Quetzal | Location: Talamanca Mountains, Costa Rica, Costa Rica
The quasi-mythical resplendent quetzal with its shimmering, multicolored plumage is challenging to photograph because it likes to sit in thick foliage, and there aren't many of them around to see. We were very lucky on our NatHab trip to Costa Rica/Nicaragua in that not only did we see six of them within a few hours, but they were practically posing for us.
