Lion In Search Of His Lioness
Species: Lion | Location: Northern Okavango Delta, Botswana
By Pamela Glintenkamp
This photograph was taken on the Botswana Explorer trip. We were following this lion as he made repeated contact calls to find his lioness and cubs, at the end of the day / dusk. Because contact calls take a tremendous amount of energy, the lion took a rest before he continued on his way. That's when this photograph was taken.
About The Photographer
When I was a teenager, my first camera was analogue, with only a manual meter...the lack of advanced technology forced me to fully understand the way that aperture, shutter speed, and ISO (back then called ASA) are related. Years later, cameras have dramatically changed, but the function of photography in my life has not. Photography, to me, is an important way to engage with and be immersed by life experiences, a way to look deeply, examine details, understand environments, and of course be aware of the position of the sun as our tiny planet makes its daily revolution.
