This photo was taken on the NatHab "Alaska Grizzly Encounter: Kodiak to Katmai" trip this past July. Mama Bear was pretty nonchalant about our presence and just continued eating, but her cub was not so sure of what to make of us. He was shy and hesitant to come out from behind his Mama, so he resorted to just peeking..

Upon retirement I thought it would be fun to learn photography. We'd recently moved to Amelia Island, Florida where nature was abundant and I wanted to try to capture that beauty. I soon found that I also enjoyed photographing humans and animals, especially those that evoked heart-warming or heart-wrenching reactions. Today I absolutely adore my wildlife subjects and the challenge of capturing emotional moments with them. I love being able to combine traveling the world with my love of photography, and am very grateful that I've had some wonderful opportunities to do so.
