Species: Polar Bear | Location: Churchill Wildlife Management Area, Canada
This is one of my favorite photos. We were on our second trip to see the polar bears in Churchill and as we drove along in the tundra buggy, this pair were resting out on a frozen pond - so it was easy to see them. I just love how relaxed they are - and how cute the cub is peeing out over its mother's back.
One of the things I love about my camera is that it is so flexible - you can change the lens length quickly to shift shots - and using burst, you can be sure you get multiple photos if there is any action happening. It's not fancy - but it captures some great shots. I was the only person on the trip who got this one.
About The Photographer
I'm strictly amateur. No fancy cameras because I refuse to haul pounds of camera lenses. So, I use a Canon SX-70 and try all the features on it. My goal is to capture shots that will remind me of the trips I took - people, animals (mostly), and sometimes just landscapes that are beautiful. I've been doing this for years and hope to keep going as long as I can.Vote for this photo in the Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest People’s Choice Awards!
