Location: Sichuan, China
Taken in Qing Xi, an old village on the Silk Road. The people are Chines Muslims, and they live in this very old but vibrant village. It is a place made for photos -- of the buildings, folks doing daily chores (washing goji berries in the paved stream that runs through the center of the main street), playing mahjohng, and so on. this older man was standing in the doorway watching us watch the residents. We were the first Nat Hab trip back to China after the pandemic, so were were visitors of interest. I liked his cool, direct expression as he looked us over.
About The Photographer
I'm strictly amateur. No fancy cameras because I refuse to haul pounds of camera lenses. So, I use a Canon SX-70 and try all the features on it. My goal is to capture shots that will remind me of the trips I took - people, animals (mostly), and sometimes just landscapes that are beautiful. I've been doing this for years and hope to keep going as long as I can.Vote for this photo in the Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest People’s Choice Awards! You can vote once per day, and each time you vote you’ll be entered for the chance to win a $500 Visa Gift Card or a $500 WWF Donation.
