Species: African Elephant | Location: Jacana Camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana, Botswana
We were on safari in the Okavango Delta area of Botswana. One of the camps we were privileged to stay at was Jacana right on the Delta. One experience that is offered is a ride in the mokoro (a dugout canoe with a poler). This is an amazing experience to be basically at water level and eye level for many birds and animals and to silently glide through the grasses and waterlilies. It is just beautiful. When you see an African Elephant from this vantage point you realize just how huge they are., how textured they are, and in many ways how graceful they are, and just how dominant they are. It was an amazing and wonderful experience.
