Species: Ursus Americanus Kermodei | Location: Great Bear Rainforest, British Columbia, Canada
This is Ma'ah, a Spirit Bear in the Great Bear Rainforest. Ma’ah means "grandmother" in Gitga’at, the language of the First Nations people. Ma'ah is a movie star, as is our guide Marven Robinson. They both appeared in the film "Great Bear Rainforest, Land of the Spirit Bear," and we were thrilled to find that Marven was our guide when we came ashore in this magical place. This fantastic trip remains in the top 5 of all trips we've taken. Our Nat Hab guide, Blue Water Adventures, the Gitga'at people, the whales and the bears, made for a spectacular experience.
