Species: Giraffes | Location: Okavango Delta, Botswana
We parked our safari jeep and watched a group of 8 giraffes contemplate the decision to cross this small river. The largest of the group cautiously made his way to the rivers edge. He stood there for a period of time trying to decide if it was safe to cross. Slowly the group joined him at the edge of the river. First, he put his foot in and retracted it. This went on for a while. The picture illustrates the closeness of the group as they made a collective decision to bravely cross. One by one they finally made it!
