Nat Hab's 2024 Guest Photo Contest

Species: Gorilla | Location: Bwindi , Uganda

This pic was taken in the Bwindi Forrest, Uganda, I was able to get incredibly close to this pair and I was deeply moved by the mom's tender caressing of her child - oblivious of anything else around her. The youngster was apparently mesmerized by my presence and continued to lock eyes with me. It was as if she saw deep into my soul with a compassion that was so intense that I found myself thinking she could see the loss I had experienced in my own life. It was an experience that I will never forget and was the highlight of that trip.

I am strictly a "want-to-be" photographer. I love to take pictures of animals and people, so safari has been a perfect way to practice skills and to do what I love. My Nat Hab trip to Tanzania and Uganda in Aug. of 2023 was a wonderful opportunity to get some amazing pictures
